Me & the boys

Now that Shane is over a year old, I get a lot of people asking me if they can still use a sling with a toddler. I guess I never thought about it because I still use it the same way I did when he was an infant! I thought I'd put some pictures up, though, for those who have never seen a toddler in a sling. Shane is 14 months old now and absolutely loves our slings. As soon as he sees me put one on, he literally squeals in excitement and crawls right over to me to be put in. He actually cries when I take him out!

Snuggle Hold

The Snuggle Hold
The same as the hip carry, but swung around so you're tummy-to-tummy. Good for when Shane keeps leaning over in the hip carry - more secure and snuggly!

Hip carry

The Hip carry
Probably the easiest carry to use with a toddler. Just slip the sling over your shoulder, pop your toddler in, and go!

Kangaroo carry   Kangaroo carry - teething on finger

The kangaroo carry
We don't use this hold as much as we used to, since Shane is strong enough for the hip carry, but it's still fun to put him in this way when he wants to look around. It's also funny watching some of the looks we get. One time when I was taking him out of the sling from the kangaroo carry, a lady next to me exclaimed "Oh, he *does* have legs!" <g>

I may add some other pictures in the near future. We still use all the holds we did as an infant, including the cradle hold (still great for nursing!), the back carry and sitting sideways. If you have any other ideas for pictures that might be helpful, please email me and I'll see what I can do!
