







The hip carry. This is better for toddlers and older babies who have more back strength. Shane hasn't quite mastered that yet, which is why I have the fabric pulled all the way up to his neck. :-)


The back carry. To put the baby on this way, start with the rings a little farther back, either on or just behind your shoulder. Then put the baby in the hip carry and shift him backwards, which will bring the rings forwards a bit, right where they belong. (Do as I say, not as I do - the rings are a bit low in this picture!)
There are many more ways
to carry a baby in a sling. I've found that an important part is getting the
baby securely in the sling so it "feels right" - take them out and try again
if you need to until you get it right, and they'll probably ride in it happily
until you're ready to take them out! Don't be afraid to experiment with it and
you'll probably come up with your own favorite positions. Happy babywearing!
